Eye Of The Dragon
Of the many Dragon sculptures I’ve had over the years, this is definitely one of my favorites. It was made by an artist named Karl Deen Sanders. Unfortunately Karl passed away a few months ago. A man with this much talent will surely be missed. His attention to form and detail are unmatched.
I was able to purchase one of his remaining figures and wanted to use it in a special way . I found these wonderful specimens of Amethyst and Calcite and put them all together to create this One-Of-A-Kind sculptures. The Amethyst at the front has been ground down to expose its inner beauty, then polished to a glass like finish. I immediately recognized this specimen as an “Eye” and thus used it in naming this piece. I’ve added the small Calcite formation just to give the piece more dimension and interest. The base is a slice of hardwood from Australia called Corymbia Opaca, or “Bloodwood”. The bottom of both the sculpture and base are covered with heavy felt to protect furniture. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to obtain another one of these Dragon figures, but I will make an attempt to do so. Such a shame to lose Karl.
Although this item is no longer available for purchase, please feel free to contact me as I may have similar sculptures or can discuss any options with you.
