Silver Spike
This is a very special kind of Dragon. All other Dragons have leathery wings which the keep for life. But this one is very different. Like many deer, moose, elk and other animals that shed their antlers yearly, this Dragon sheds his wings every two years to grow new, larger ones as his body grows.
Dragons are normally very bad tempered, but when this one loses his wings he becomes extra cranky, having to stay grounded until his new wings grow in replacing the vicious spikes he retains until his new wings are replaced.
Dragons covet gold over everything else and will protect their treasure with their massive teeth, raking claws, spiny tail, and of course, their breath of fire. This guy likes to wallow in his stash from time to time, allowing some of the pieces to stick to his body, tail or feet, just to show off his power and wealth.
I don’t exactly know what the main mineral is that I’ve used. It’s quite heavy and has a beautiful brown to black velvety texture to it. The floor is a slice of Sandstone, from Utah. The black point is frosted glass, from China. I’ve spent many hours doing the metal work on this point. The base is a hand cut, shaped, finished and painted slice of White Pine wood. The bottom is felted to protect furniture.
