Sad Jester
This beautiful, hand painted figure is by Veronese. The detail on this figure is incredible, from the black tears from her eyes, to the individual gold beads in her head piece, and costume.
She’s sitting in front of a wonderful specimen of Pyrite, from Bolivia, which is loaded with crystals and lots of sparkle. I’ve also added a section of a Brazilian Amethyst Geode beneath her to add a little more color.
When I saw this figure, with its silver and gold colored finish, I knew it was perfect for this Pyrite specimen. It all blends together very nicely.
The base is of a hardwood, which I hand cut and finished, called Corymbia Opaca. It comes from Australia. Its common name is Bloodwood. I’ve covered the bottom with a heavy felt to protect furniture.
